Portrait of a friend

I recently completed a portrait of a friend from work who just happens to be an amazing photographer. His wife maria commissioned me to do it for him as a gift from her. I hadn't done a portrait in quite some time so I was eager to do it and it was a lot of fun. Plus it was nice to take a break from drawing cartoons all the time and do something realistic.

in the upper left corner of the picture you'll see a photo I used as reference. This is obvious a take on the old Norman Rockwell "Self Portrait" painting that has become so famous over the years. By the way Rockwell has always been one of my all time favorite artists.
